While I came to shoot Amaranthe, Within Temptation was the actual headliner of the show. No doubt these guys know how to put on a performance. The vocal abilities of lead singer Sharon den Adel are truly phenomenal. The show got off to what felt like a late start. Security passed the time with the fans by spraying water bottles at them and overall just tried to keep them occupied.
Unfortunately somebody seemed to have left the fog machine on, and the other photographers and I in the pit were just about gagging on the fog machines. As I’ve probably said before, I have a love/hate relationship with fog machines. Styled with the right lighting, you can get some really great effects. However, often it just serves to cloud the images and the band so soaked in red LED light.
It was a pleasure to see this great band up close and personal. Glad I got the chance to shoot them, and I’ll surely keep them on my list to shoot again.
